You and your family love the unschooling lifestyle! You're
experienced unschoolers and you know learning is everywhere. You and your
kids feel free to pursue your interests into whatever situations you find -
offbeat or academic, and you pursue them with equal zeal.
Maybe it's hanging
at home and keeping up with your favourite message boards or local volunteer
work, traveling, a part-time job or an apprenticeship in an area of
interest. Maybe it's auditing a local college class or pursuing a university
degree in a specialized field. Maybe it's something completely different -
but all learning is valuable. Life has it's ups and down, but it is
definitely joyful!
Not quite being *there* yet, I can only imagine that most concerns have to do with
helping and supporting your kids in pursuit of their interests. So in this
area I'll post stuff I find that I think may be helpful to experienced
unschoolers - right now mostly links to web sites by or about unschooling
young adults with examples of the unique ways they've found to pursue their
interests and/or get into college.
Websites to Visit!
The Unschooler Experiment
Lifelong unschooler Peter Kowalke's website. Growing out of his interest in examining and discussing
homeschooling, this site is an exploration of the lasting influences of home education and a
celebration of people who question and experiment.
Teens and Unschooling at Sandra Dodd's website.
Unschooling High School and College
is a FAQ with answers by Alison McKee,
who began unschooling her two children over twenty years ago and from their
family's experiences wrote the book "From Homeschool to College and Work:
Turning Your Homeschooled Experiences into College and Job Portfolios."
